GDNC010 is finally upon us – and once again Ulterior Motive’s exciting new label bring forth five more slices of uncompromising dancefloor funk.
This time the director of proceedings is Was A Be, a producer who could already be championed as one of Italy’s finest Drum & Bass exports. Infamous for his futuristic, energetic and individual take on the genre, the producer has been steadily crafting cutting edge hits since 2015 for a raft of top of the game labels.
His Passive Aggressive EP is his first outing for Guidance, and it is a perfect meeting of minds for the sound and direction of the imprint. An artist initially known for a more out there sound, this EP showcases Was A Be taking a straighter and more big room route with the genre, resulting in five tracks aimed firmly at the floor.
Each of the five tracks are typified by their stripped back yet rolling drums, big and bold basslines and strong hooks – and with well-worked drops and tight arrangements, each piece has been making substantial statements in the club and on the festival circuit. Now ready to be unleashed fully to the world, Was A Be and Guidance are firmly planting their flag in the sand.
Hailing from Como in Italy, Was A Be is an exciting drum & bass producer who’s been making a huge amount of waves in a very short amount of time. With tracks supported by the likes of Noisia, Rockwell, Friction, Ivy Lab and more, it was their completely unsolicited but lashing remix of Friction & K-Tee’s ‘Set It Off’ that really brought him to the attention of the Shogun Audio crew. With forward-thinking releases such as ‘Brainstorm EP’ and ‘Overstep EP’, Fabio continues to push boundaries in drum and bass. Now with this new release on Ulterior Motive’s Guidance Music label he pushes even further into new territory.
