Criminal Sound has been a Buffalo, NY staple in the Drum N Bass scene since 1995. You may have heard him under his moniker, ‘Pimp Daddy T’ in such places as, The Atomic, Mercury Theater, Club E, Function events, Co-Founder of Thursdays @ 658, Konkrete Jungle Buffalo, and most of the raves in the late 90’s just to name a few.
“Pimp Daddy T” got his start in the Dj game back in 1995, while helping with shows for the Knowmatic Tribe Soundsystem @ Asbury Alley and other various “raves” in the city Of Buffalo. He quickly picked up djing from the likes of Dj Gringo Scar aka Marcos, and Matty Quinn, who introduced the mini pimp to the world of turntablism. Long before the age of 21 he found himself spinning and scratching at events and nightclubs in Buffalo, Toronto, Rochester, and other surrounding areas regularly.
He went on to throw his first rave in 1996 in the basement of the Lafayette Hotel in Buffalo NY and also held down two residencies in New York City in 1997. By the Year 2000, Pimp Daddy T had already built up a serious resume for himself.
Having opened for names like, Freaky Flow, Capital J, Mickey Finn, Darren J, Kenny Kenn, Randall, Lion, Reid Speed, Roc Raida, DJ SS, AK1200 (just to name a few). While now holding down residencies 5 out of 7 days of the week and traveling all over the eastern seaboard, he felt he was ready to expand.
After departing Buffalo to explore new opportunities in Las Vegas, NV, Criminal Sound found himself embraced by the west coast. While there he spun for many companies including Awol, Flizom Flozom and Drai’s Nightclub. He ended up on N20’s “Diss The Program Tour” in 2003, playing alongside General Malice, Capital J, RAW, DJ K. When he returned from tour he moved to Phoenix AZ and started a jungle weekly with the legendary DJ Lion coined ‘Mash Up Mondays’.
In 2003 Pimp Daddy T reinvented himself in the producer form of Criminal Sound. Completely immersed in his production, he started writing song after song and putting them on the internet. The word spread quick about his talent. After climbing the charts with multiple songs on www.ragga-jungle.com ‘s top ten list, he followed up with a few releases on labels like, Celestial Conspiracy, Dub Chamber Records and Lion Heart Recordings.
In 2005 Criminal Sound returned to Buffalo, NY with a full box of dubplates at his disposal. Having made alliances with a number of top artists in the jungle scene, his selection was and still is the only one of its kind in the area. Maintaining the jungle scene in his hometown became his next duty. After Founding the now defunct ‘Konkrete Jungle Buffalo’ in 2007, he moved onto his current company ‘Buffalo Drum N Bass’ Which was, and still is dedicated to throwing quality Drum and Bass events in the queen city.
Fast forward ten years and Criminal Sound shows no signs of stopping. Now with 2 vinyl releases under his belt (Jungle Cat & Celestial Conspiracy), plus a nice selection of releases on Beatport, he was recently picked up by the mighty Dj Hybrids label “Deep in the Jungle Recordings”. Criminal Sound comes with an impeccable knowledge of jungle/dnb with over 20 years of being dedicated to the sound. His selection is always filled with funk, soul with a reggae vibe.
