Sub Killaz, Celerity – Ambulate – Divination Recordings
August 8, 2019
From deep within the abyss, Ambulate’s foundation shaking bassline harnesses the latent energies of the sea and explodes into a forward moving, free flowing blast of energy. Ethereal pads and arcane stabs over the deep and nasty bassline conjure a vibe that is so unique and versatile it is welcome in both club and underground environments.
San Diego based Sub Killaz are no strangers to drum and bass. Having released on Playaz, Biological Beats, and Souped Up to name a few, their musical offerings have regularly found their way into sets by many of the top players in the genre. Having teamed up with another San Diego native, Celerity, this trio of warlocks have tapped into the deepest recesses of the aether to manifest one of our deepest releases to date.
Sub Killaz and Celerity bring the fire with Ambulate via Divination Recordings. The intro is set in a futuristic landscape with steady percussion and glitched alien computer sounds. As the kicks double up and pick up momentum the top of the neuro style bassline starts to work its way into the mix. With distortion growling in the background and a solid build on tension the drop finally releases. The noise clears out leaving a stabbing bassline that leaves even the most technical sound designers satisfied. The bassline and drums take you straight to the dancefloor and you can’t help but start moving your feet to this monster. A nice humming sub and constant distorted stabs create a combative landscape where the listener is bombarded with sonic greatness. This one has a pretty dynamic mix which helps to showcase the greatness of the bassline. The constant variation keeps the listener on their toes and at one point the bassline sounds like a dj is scratching it. This would be a solid dancefloor tune in any dj’s arsenal.
