Former drum ‘n’ bass royalty and recent curators of three UK #1 hits, Future Cut, reemerge on V Recordings. A side from a very limited handful of test pressings these two servings of rolling dancefloor drum ‘n’ bass, originally scheduled for release back in 2005, were never released until now.
Prophecy is a fast paced rolling stepper, peppered with a female vocal sample, congo rolls and synth stabs all of which are ignited by an inspirational speech that you are sure to recognize.
Out There is a funky dark roller filled with a barrage of familiar samples woven in between haunting bass lines and horn stabs reminiscent of those found in a 1970’s car chase movie.
Future Cut: Past, Present and Future.
These former promoters of the Manchester’s drum ‘n’ bass scene shifted their sights from event production to music production. The first two Future Cut releases, Fresh Step’ and ‘The Chase’, were signed by Renegade Recordings in 1998 and sold 1700 copies. After a handful of releases, including the anthem ‘Whiplash’ they created another genre hit ‘Midnight’, which went on to sell 15,000 copies. Midnight sparked UnCut, a band project uniting Future Cut with Jenna G and landed them a recording deal with Warner Bros. Despite the positive reviews for juxtaposing genres, it failed to make a commercial impact. After disbanding UnCut the two set their sites on America and worked with the likes of Nicole Scherzinger, Shakira and Melanie Fiona. Eventually they landed high profile production work and established their own recording studio in London which allowed them to produce hits for Wretch 32, Professor Green, Devlin and Dizzee Rascal. Since then they’ve embarked upon a label deal with Warner Bros. Records in which they’re responsible for the A&R and of course their continued work with charting top UK 40 artist.
